MAURA Higgins has announced that she and boyfriend Chris Taylor have split but said she has “no regrets”.
The pair, who met on love Island in 2019, have been officially seeing each other since November of last year.
The Longford native had previously left the show dating DWTS pro dancer Curtis Pritchard but they broke up nine months later.
Maura and Chris had been very close friends before deciding to take their relationship to the next level.
But after just six months the reality star couple have called it quits and the decision will come as a shock to many fans.
Taking to Instagram with a statement today Maura wrote: “It breaks my heart to even type this but I wanted to let everyone know that myself and Chris have made the joint decision to end our relationship.
“There is no wrongdoing on either side… We still love, care and respect each other deeply.
“From the minute we met each other we’ve been very close friends and that will never change.
‘NO REGRET’
“There is no regret. Life is about taking chances. We wanted to make this work but we have realised we work better being friends.
“Whilst I appreciate people may speculate or create false stories, this is the truth.
“I wish Chris nothing but the best and I will always be one of his biggest supporters X.
“Thank you for all the love and support.”
Chris shared a similar statement over on his Instagram story.
The pair are admanet that the break up is a mutual decision but Chris admitted that it was a tough one for both of them.
The 28-year-old wrote: “Hey guys. After some very heartfelt conversations over the past few days, myself and Maura are very sad to announce that we have decided to part ways.
‘TOUGH TIME’
“We are both still on very good terms and this was a mutual decision where nobody had done anything wrong.
“We will remains friends, as we have been since day 1 and I will always be in Maura’s corner and have her back.
“We are both going through a tough time with this at the moment, so please take any speculation with a metric tonne of salt, cos this is the only truth (and as always trolls can kindly f*** off).
“Thank you for all the love and support you’ve given us, it’s been truly appreciated.”
